As you start putting together your roster for the 2025 season, I thought I
would throw out a few names that could be traded before the draft.
Generally speaking, RRG is not yet ready to compete for the playoffs this
coming season, so is very willing to deal anyone not part of their long
term core. Doesn't hurt to ask as there are only a few untouchables in the
right deal.
While guys like India, Nimmo, Toglia are not being actively shopped, they
could be available in the right deal. Given a top 5 pick for RRG and given
all the OF at the top of the draft crop, someone like Nootbaar could also
be available.
The guys RRG is more actively shopping...
1. Andrew Heaney. Solid .312 wOBA allowed 17% K-BB. Reasonable HR rate.
Limited injury risk. Good for a solid 190 innings on a good team. Given
RRGs dearth of SP, I would probably need a younger SP in return to fill
innings.
2. If you are in need of a utility IF, RRG has both Wisely and Cabrera and
I would prefer to not keep both. Both are in that 25 year old range so both
have some level of upside. Wisely is good defensively at 2B/SS and can fill
in at 1B, 3B, and CF. He also hits lefties pretty well so could be a short
side platoon up the middle. Cabrera has more usage at more positions and
can play everywhere but CF/C. Defensively, he is good at 3B and marginal
everywhere else. He has slightly better batted ball metrics than Wisely
(probably more bat upside) and hits righties better. He could function as a
strong side platoon bat at 3B if you have a big hole. Both are nice
utility guys to fill out your roster.
RRG does not have a need for low round picks given projected keepers, but
would be open to higher or mid round picks. They also have glaring needs at
C, SP, and I suppose RP. Not interested in older one year play types.
Willing to take a look at young guys with promise, especially coming from
teams ready to win now.
