[IBL] Then There Was TRI 38, OXY 0

74 batters faced. Yikes.

And a three hour long FtF game. From what I saw in skimming the log
it is pretty amusing. Good for both teams for sticking in there.

Three hours. This has to be entered into the "Baseball is dying" discussion.

Players told me afterwards they wanted to give the faithful at least one memorable game from a lost season, and they had found that "losing was much easier than winning." So they went for the only record that felt within reach.
>
> It was TRI's 18-run sixth inning that propelled OXY to the record. The fix was in early in the frame, with RP Aaron Bummer coming down with purported "arm trouble" early in the inning to make way for . . . Howie Kendrick. 9 hits, 6 walks, 3 errors, 2 HBP, and 2 wild pitches followed before 3 outs were recorded.

> Jeers turned to cheers by the end of the inning, when the fans realized the "blowout" record beckoned. As TRI struck out the side to end the game, fans were taking selfies with the scoreboard showing behind them, and the seldom stale biscuits served at The Grist never tasted quite so good. Mission accomplished.
