[IBL] Then There Was TRI 38, OXY 0

With the playoffs on the on-deck circle, perhaps it is time to circle back
to one of the most memorable games of the past IBL season:
TRI 38, OXY 0
As Dave Menard aptly noted below, past baseball blowouts were mere child's
play compared to the beating TRI put on OXY in front of OXY's home
"crowd." Players told me afterwards they wanted to give the faithful at
least one memorable game from a lost season, and they had found that
"losing was much easier than winning." So they went for the only record
that felt within reach.
It was TRI's 18-run sixth inning that propelled OXY to the record. The fix
was in early in the frame, with RP Aaron Bummer coming down with purported
"arm trouble" early in the inning to make way for . . . Howie Kendrick. 9
hits, 6 walks, 3 errors, 2 HBP, and 2 wild pitches followed before 3 outs
were recorded.
Jeers turned to cheers by the end of the inning, when the fans realized the
"blowout" record beckoned. As TRI struck out the side to end the game,
fans were taking selfies with the scoreboard showing behind them, and the
seldom stale biscuits served at The Grist never tasted quite so good.
Mission accomplished.
The full box score and play-by-play are below. Enjoy!

* The highest run differential in a single game in major league history is
29, when the Chicago Colts (now the Cubs) beat the Louisville Colonels 36–7
on June 29, 1897, and the record in baseball's modern era (since 1900) is
27, when the Texas Rangers beat the Baltimore Orioles 30–3 on August 22,
2007.Then there was TRI 38, OXY 0. With all due respect to the Millers, I
think we need to publish that box score...On October 19, 2019 at 12:20 PM

Week 24 @CAN Week 24 @SCS Week 24 @SEA Week 24 @SFP We don't have any more
off weeks, so please get caught up. This is an important time of the season
for usage, and missing results can mess people up. So get those results
in! Thanks! MILESTONES ---------- Clayton Kershaw picked up his 200th
career IBL win in week 24 against the L.A. Doyers. Giancarlo Stanton
reached 300 home runs for the Rainiers. Nelson Cruz passed the 300 HR mark
earlier this year. In a week 22 game between the Tri-State Traffic and
Occidental Millers, Manuel Margot accomplished a feat which may have never
been done before in the IBL. In an 18-run sixth inning outburst for the
Traffic, Margot came to bat three times and had three hits. Yes, in one
inning. He singled in the first at-bat, had an RBI double later in the
inning, then came up yet again and hit a two-run double. He also scored
all three times. ROSTERS ------- If you haven't sent a playoff roster yet,
