[IBL] SAND CRABS BABY!!!

It began with a dream and a draft pick.  2010 and the selection of Rick
Porcello at #2 (having missed out on Matt Weiters who when first overall).  It
started in 2010 with 36 wins and 126 losses.  And Jack Hannahan logging 119
games at third base.

But finally, the years of hard work has paid off.  Through numerous trade
disputes and contentious emails.  Through late night FtF series where we
had no chance to win but enjoyed (most times) just playing the games.  Through
season win totals of 36, 45, 46 (twice) and 53.  Through selecting
Francisco Cervelli instead of Kyle Seager.  Through it all, we were the
Sand Crabs.  And it has finally paid off.  I can finally say that the
Baltimore Sand Crabs are in the playoffs as champs of the AC West.  A
division that I would say is arguably the toughest in the IBL from top to
bottom.  Playing Sean, George and Chris a dozen times each year can
certainly drive you crazy but makes you better.  Never an easy out, never
an easy matchup and certainly never an easy win.  While contentious at
times, every series was a challenge and while each of those owners (along
with about half the league owners) would get frustrated when they’d offer
advice, know that I listened to each and every one of them while making my
own decisions (most of the time).  I created a team that I wanted to own.  A
team of my own creation with my own choices and my own evaluations.

I don’t always play optimum strategy and I don’t always have the optimum
lineup.  But I'm learning and I have fun and I like my team.  The lovable
loser Sand Crabs.  Can’t keep that moniker any more.  Kinda like the
Cubbies, you can only be the lovable loser up until you’re successful.  We
made the playoffs.  No more “woe is me” for the Crabbies.  We’re now Tier 1
(sorry Brent, that BAL #1 pick just fell a bit).
And the best part?  We plan on sticking around.  MAD, POR and MCM are gonna
come gunning for me next year and we’ll be ready.  But for now, we have
some unfinished business.  Now that we crashed the playoff party, time to
make some noise!
