My two cents...
2024-01
No. We need effective deadlines. But... we need to find more ways to help
people get results in on time. And I'm not being dismissive of Brent's
concern. Obviously, more associates. Maybe there are other ideas we could
brainstorm?
2024-02
No. I'd explore something similar to Chris' suggestion of moving to a 100%
-> 50% -> Extended -> Minor with maybe a tweak, once a player hits 50% of
his maximum this rule kicks in. In some cases, there's still a chance they
could be used 125/133% of their usage.
Two years ago I acquired Brandon Crawford, injury rating of 7/10. He
proceeded to get injured like 3 or 4 times and probably missed 30+ games
for me. That's pretty extreme for owning him about 50% of the season.
Others like deGrom are very limited by their actual games played that it
would be nice to have a chance to get them 125/133% of their usage if they
were that lucky.
2024-03
Yes. What we should be doing is better pitching staff management and
planning for weekly disasters like 1st inning pitcher blister, injury,
double headers, etc. and have contingency plans already on your
staff/bullpen. Yes, those challenges will happen but shouldn't happen that
much. Real life says the guy gets pulled.
2024-04
No. I like the flexibility of pushing mid-tier pitchers to get more innings
than being concerned about top-tier pitchers getting too many. That plays
into draft strategy & drafting/trading pitchers specifically for usage
needs.
2024-05
Probably
2024-06
Yes.
2024-07
No. In the example, it's obvious the LF'er didn't have reason/skill to play
RF. I don't think there is justification to just give him both corners.
I've had to play COL Jones in LF this year creatively for this exact
scenario and partially traded Tatis due to a perceived future RF logjam.
I've rather enjoyed working within the constraints. Otherwise it's way too
easy. We don't allow utility infielders the same convenience. It would ruin
the infield player management... and same with corner OFs.
2024-08
Yes. If I'm hit with a 100% or 50% injury, I'd like to be able to manage it
and decide if/when I use that player again in the season. Injuries to these
players is already an issue, doubling up injuries in the same week is also
unrealistic. I wouldn't consider it two injuries either, just use the worst
of the two.
2024-09
No. These teams should be doing what they can (trades, etc) to improve
their chances in the playoffs. I question if that is happening currently.
Yes it's a tough defeat in a 1-gamer but shouldn't you be hoping/doing all
you can to win rather than hoping to lose that game?
2024-10
No, not as currently written. deGrom & HOU Garcia, both 115 MLB bfs, and
neither could be placed on IR at the start of, pre or post-season? Needless
to discuss the 4 other pitchers in similar situations I've rostered or
released (some uncarded) that could have benefited by an richer IR system.
So, I think an IR would potentially be good.
