Hello, everyone. I'm going to throw my hat into the trade flier ring, as well.
Projected starters:
C: TEX Huff/???
1B: TB Diaz/SD Drury/???
2B: CIN India
SS: CHA Anderson/NYN Guillorme
3B: PIT Hayes
LF: ???
CF: NYN Nimmo
RF: STL Nootbaar
Other hitters of note: SD Mazara, COL Trejo
Defense and usage only: PHI Zimmer
SP (not necessarily the rotation): CHN Miley, OAK Blackburn, BAL
Watkins, DET Alexander, DET Rodriguez, ???
RP: MIL Milner, BAL Akin, LAA Quijada, KC Clarke, NYN SmithDr., TB
Armstrong, MIN Paddack (SP, but with so few PA he'll be in the pen for
us next season)
We'll need one or two catchers, 100 or so starts at 1B (to be safe), a
left fielder, and one or two starters.
I may trade one of the following two players in order to fill one or
more of those gaps:
PIT Hayes: (3B, 26 y.o. to start the 2023 MLB season) Has a phenomenal
glove at third base (3.0 defensive WAR according to B-Ref!), and can
hit lefties fairly well (.270/.343/.415 vs LHP). I think his best
hitting days (against both hands) are still to come. I'd be looking
for a very high first rounder plus significant additional value (or
something equivalent).
TB Diaz: (3B/1b, 31 y.o. to start 2023) An on-base machine (.401 OBP,
5th in the Majors). Started 15 games at first and was decent there,
and 97 at third, where they honestly probably should've had a better
solution defensively. I believe he'll end up at first in '23 or '24
but don't quote me on that. Looking for a good first round pick or
equivalent value.
I'm not dead set on moving either, though, so don't be surprised if I
say no, regardless of what the offer is.
