FREE AGENT DEADLINE
-------------------
Sean has reminded me that this year's trade deadline will be earlier on the
calendar than usual.
This year it is the transaction period after week 8, which will be in early
August.

In normal years we don't allow any free agent pickups after the trade
deadline except for
emergency signings.  But this year that would mean several weeks of MLB
games being played
without IBL teams being able to sign anyone.

I'm ruling that for this year free agent signings will be allowed all the
way through the end
of the IBL regular season.  Players picked up after the trade deadline will
not be playoff eligible
in 2021, but can be retained for 2022 if they meet usage requirements.

NO-HITTER
---------
Aaron Nola twirls a no-hitter for the South Florida Flamingos against the
Philadelphia Phantasm in
week 5, believed to be the first in South Florida / Tri-State franchise
history.

He walked two and struck out nine, facing only one over the minimum,
getting Luis Rengifo on a
routine ground ball to second base for the final out.

Second friendly reminder to please pay your IBL league dues for 2021 if you
haven't done it yet.  It's only 5 bucks...if you can contribute extra it is
appreciated
as Sean is still in the red over the years.

The preferred method of payment is to use PayPal (send to sweda at ibl.org).
If you use a credit card make sure to add a little extra to cover the fee.
If you prefer to send a check let Sean know and he'll send you the address.
If you intend to use payment from a previous season to carry over to this
year you
need to let us know.
