All,
Much like how the MLB likes to start things off early in a far away land,
Mike (NYK) and I figured we would do the same with IBL 2019. The new look
(and still pathetic) Sand Crabs taking on the very powerful Knights. Some
IBL 2019 firsts
> First pitch of the game: Home Run roll to Jose Altuve. An omen for the
season? Nah
> First error of the game: TEX Choo who lost a ball in the lights during
the 3rd inning
> First grand slam (and there were more than one): COL Story who belted the
grand slam in the 3rd inning of game 1 (second one was TEX Gallo for NYK
who hit one in the 6th of the same game)
> First injury: LAN Buehler will be missing 33 games thanks to an elbow
problem suffered in G2
> First use of the new CFR (catcher framing range): Came in G3 and I tell
ya, having an A-B-C catcher will come in handy. My J rated catcher is
pretty much useless (....busy scouring rosters to see who has high rated
catchers for this new rule.........aaaaahhhh).
Big thanks to Mike for getting series #1 in the books. Hopefully the first
NC series being played FtF is a good omen as well. Even though the Crabs
lost 2 of 3, the games were close (mostly) and fun. And isn't that what
the IBL is all about?
Crab On!
Doug/BAL
