The Portland Raptors have advanced to the AC Championship Series after
defeating
the Chicago Cougars 3 games to 1 in the AC Wild Card Series, then
outlasting the
Tri-State Traffic in a hard fought Division Series matchup.

After COU won the first game, POR came back to win the next three, including
two in extra innings.

to advance.

In the other AC Division Series, Motor City pitchers stifled the
Williamstown

another run in the series en route to a sweep.

Seattle and Santa Fe are currently playing their NC Division Series, with
the winner to face SNH. Please have this series done soon so we can stay
on schedule.

Assuming the SEA/SFP series can be done within the next several days, we can
shoot for this schedule:

Conference Championships: due Monday, February 19
IBL Championship: due Monday, March 5

If the games can be played earlier, even better!

Please check it over carefully and let me know if anything looks incorrect.

COMMISSIONER RULING
-------------------
A few months ago I answered a question from Jed by clarifying that Dee
Gordon
would be eligible for the playoffs after he finished his 80 game drug
suspension.
We don't have any rule in the Constitution or any previous Commissioner's
ruling
that would make such a player ineligible for the playoffs. Since it seemed
pretty straightforward, I neglected to announce the ruling in a newsletter.
(I'll try to make sure to announce all such things from now on.)

George did not know about the ruling until he was set to face TRI in the
playoffs,
and when he found out, he asked the Review Board to review my ruling.
Sean organized an expanded Review Board (when reviewing a Commissioner's
ruling,
the Review Board also includes the V.C. and one other owner). They upheld
my
decision and Gordon was eligible to play.

If anyone has an opinion about whether they would like players to be
ineligible
for the playoffs when they have a drug suspension earlier in the year, let
me know.
If there is sufficient support for such a rule, we could look into adding
it.
