Hi all,

As Rusty mentioned in the newsletter, I've volunteered to put together a
ballot for the 2017 All-Star Game. It'd be great if everyone participated,
to save me from compiling stats when some players obviously shouldn't be
included on a ballot.
So here's how it'll work:

*Nominations*

Each IBL team should nominate up to 6 position players, 3 starting
pitchers, and 3 relief pitchers from their roster. This should be plenty,
but if your team is so spectacular that you have more deserving players
than that, feel free to nominate more.

Use whatever criteria you see fit, but players that have small sample sizes
or have spent 2/3 of the year injured probably shouldn't be included.
Reply to this email with your nominations (please include position played,
MLB team, and full player name). In the subject line, use "[IBL TEAM NAME]
All-Star Nominations" (subbing your team name of course). Nominations are
due on Monday, July, 17th at the same time that weekly results are due.

Example of nomination: SS, TEX - Andrus, Elvis

*The Ballot*

Once nominations are in, I'll prepare a ballot for each conference by
position, drawing stats from the almanac. I'll then send the ballots for
both conferences and a reminder on voting instructions out to the entire
mailing list.

*Voting*

Once I have sent out the ballots, each owner/co-owner should vote for up to
3 players at each infield position, 5 at each outfield position, 3 starting
pitchers, and 3 relief pitchers. Reply to the ballot email with your
All-Star selections at each position by listing the players for each
position in the order of your vote (top vote first, secondary vote second,
etc.)

Example of voting: SP - PHI LAN Kershaw, TRI NYN Harvey, MAD LAN Grienke.

In the subject line, use "[IBL TEAM NAME] All-Star Selections".

I will then assign points for each vote a player gets. "First place" votes
will get 3 points, "second place" will get 2 points, and "third place" will
get 1 point. The player at each position with the most points will be
named the All-Star Game starter. Ties will be broken by the total number
of votes received (first place + second place + third place) at the
respective positions.

Once starters are determined, I'll also add the next 2 highest point total
players regardless of hitter position, 2 starting pitchers, and 1 more
relief pitcher as "voted in reserves". That will bring each roster to 16
players. The managers of the game can then select their 9 player (or
whatever number is agreed upon) benches.

Votes are due on Monday, July 24th at the same time that weekly results are
due.. I'll try to have the voting results out by the 27th.

I think that covers everything. I hope everyone participates in the
process!

Thanks,

Brent Cunningham
