Since everyone else is naming team awards, the Prairie Dogs offer their award
list as well.

Winners of the "Desert Golden Gophers" for this year are:

Rookie of the year: Kris Bryant, without a doubt.
Pitcher of the year: Felix, as always.
Most Valuable: this one was a challenge to pick. To avoid duplication, the Last
Fan in the Stands said it should go to Brad Miller (despite the frequent
errors.) Official, though, it ended up going to Adrian Gonzalez.
"Will play anywhere for food" award: On a team full of versatile players, this
award goes once again to Brock Holt.
Star relief pitcher: Even though Drew Pomeranz saved more games, this award goes
to Michael Blazek, only because he had a slightly better ERA.
Biggest surprise: Jefry Marte (3 HR, 10 RBI in 24 games playing part-time after
beginning the year as an undrafted free agent).
Headhunter award: Hector Santiago, who has yet to meet a rib-cage he couldn't
hit.
"Why'd you trade for me if I'm not going to play?" award: Alex Rodriguez.

And finally, the "Coprolite Award" (fossilized P-Dog dung for the uninitiated):
Dustin Ackley, who went from being a central part of the Santa Fe offense to an
afterthought, making only 15 plate appearances all year.

With all the festivities concluded and 162 warmup games in the book, it's time
to play the games that count.
