PLAYOFFS
--------
Gettysburg topped Minneapolis in seven games in their NC Division Series.
GTY held a two games to one lead as reported in the last newsletter. MNM
then
tied the series by outlasting GTY in a thirteen inning game, walking off on
a
Stephen Piscotty home run. In game five, Jon Lester pitched very well into
the
seventh inning to lead Gettysburg to a 5-1 victory. Addison Russell scored
three
runs, Odubel Herrera chipped in three hits, and Justin Turner knocked a
solo homer.
Minneapolis came right back to tie the series again with a 3-2 victory in
game six,
with Mitch Moreland's RBI single in the 8th the game winner. Mark Lowe got
the win
with 2.1 shutout innings of relief. Gettysburg then advanced to the NCCS

The Philadelphia Phantasm outlasted the Baltimore Sand Crabs in seven hard
fought
games to advance. After splitting the first four games, Baltimore took
game five
behind a great start by Gerrit Cole and three RBI by Jose Altuve. The
series then
returned to Philadelphia. The Phantasm struck early, with eleven hits in
the
first four innings to grab a 4-1 lead. The Sand Crabs threatened in the
ninth,
scoring a run, loading the bases, and fatiguing Craig Kimbrel, but J.J.
Hoover
came in to retire Jose Altuve on a fly ball to preserve the 5-3 win. The
series
went to game seven, featuring the third matchup of Jake Arrieta vs. Clayton
Kershaw. They both pitched well, and the game went into the eighth inning
with
Philadelphia ahead 2-1 on an unearned run on Arrieta's own error.
Baltimore tied
it up on a Kyle Schwarber pinch hit RBI single, and the game moved to the
ninth
tied at 2. Baltimore got a runner on in the top of the frame but couldn't
move
him. In the bottom of the ninth, Kyle Seager ended the series in dramatic
fashion
with a clutch home run to right center off Zach Britton.

Chicago leads Tri-State, 3 games to 1, in their Division Series.
Ian Desmond's 3-run home run in the 6th inning made the difference and
Andrew
Heaney pitched well to lead COU to a 5-2 victory in game one. Eduardo
Rodriguez
dominated game two, allowing only two hits, and Prince Fielder homered and
drove
in four as COU prevailed 8-1. Chicago then stretched their lead to three
games
to none by taking game three behind a strong effort by Chris Archer and a
balanced
offense, with every starter in their lineup chipping in at least one hit.
Tri-State stayed alive with a 7-5 victory in game four, coming from behind
late
and escaping a ninth inning jam, then getting a walk-off home run by A.J.
Pollock.

Gettysburg faced Oaksterdam in the NC Championship Series. After game one
was
postponed due to rain, C.J. Wilson led Gettysburg to victory, pitching
shutout
ball into the eighth inning. Michael Brantley homered and drove in three,
and
Odubel Herrera had three hits to pace the offense. Game two saw Oaksterdam
tie
up the series, with Jesse Hahn working in and out of trouble into the
seventh
inning to get the win. Adam Eaton had three hits and drove in a pair, and
Brandon Phillips added a solo homer. Jeremy Jeffress made throwing errors
on
two straight plays in the eighth inning to allow insurance runs. Game three
was a close game, with GTY carrying a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth.
But ODM pushed across a run on two singles and a wild pitch to send it to
extras.
They then won it in the bottom of the 11th as Cesar Hernandez walked, then
stole
second and continued on to third on a wild throw. Alex Gordon then drove
him
in with a single to end it. Game four was another nail-biter, with GTY
erasing
a 2-0 deficit and taking the lead with a 2-out 3-run homer by Jason
Rogers.
ODM came right back to tie it in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by
Brandon Phillips. The game went into the 10th inning before Josh Donaldson
walked it off with a home run off Jeffress. ODM then carried the momentum
into
game five and bashed their way into the IBLCS with an 11-5 victory.
Donaldson
homered and drove in five to pace a 14-hit attack and Aroldis Chapman
grinded
his way through four innings of relief for the victory.

2017 CARD INFO
--------------
The spreadsheet of stats for carded players and free agents is in my
personal
Dropbox folder. You can retrieve it with this link:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/62fri2c75lkica7/CardedPlayers2017.xlsx?dl=0

Someone has copied it into the IBL shared folder, and also convered it into
Open Document Spreadsheet format, which is helpful. However, since files
in
the shared folder are writable by anyone, the data might get changed
accidentally,
so if you want the original version I created, make sure to get it from my
link.

Sean has posted some preliminary card info (carded players, starts/limits,
and
estimated defensive range ratings) here:

DRAFT
-----
My list of carded and free agent players has been cross checked with Sean's
list
and corrections were made before I sent it out. And nobody has reported any
errors, so we'll consider it official. HAV is on the clock with the first
pick
and anyone may pick by sending their selection to members at ibl.org when it
is their
turn.

OWNERSHIP
---------
Nelson is looking for a new owner/co-owner for PAD as he will probably not
be
able to run the team by himself this upcoming season. If you know anyone
who may
be a good fit to share PAD responsibilities, please contact him.

If any other teams know they will need help this year, or have any other
concerns,
please let me know.
