[IBL] The GTY "then that happened" trade flier

Coming out of week 13 and just about half way through the season, I was
muddling along at 40-37 and pretty sure that even if I made the playoffs,
it would be a quick exit at the hands of a better-built team.
Then rollbot happened. I don't know what inspired her, other than maybe
Doug's continual sacrifices of actual sand crabs, Chris Resop's glove, and
a little of Jose Guillen's hair, but it likely confused rollbot's
blessings, and resulted in GTY going 16-2 the last 3 weeks - putting me
back in the thick of things for the NC West and conceivably the NC's best
record with a little more luck.
Maybe it's just an anomaly, and I'm due for regression, but since things
have worked out this way so far, I may as well "make my own luck", as they
say, and see if I can bolster the team for the sure-to-come divisional
struggle with ODM and SEA (no offense, EDG).
I'm looking for "playoff worthy" cards at the following positions:
Starting Pitcher - I have injury risks in Cueto and Young, and especially
with Wilson. I'd like to find an insurance policy or two.
Relief Pitcher - I can't see being a successful playoff team without
acquiring at least 1 very good lefty and 1 very good righty. I'd prefer to
pick up 2 lefties and a righty.
Catcher - That can hit lefties better than Wieters, and preferably with a
good throw rating. An all-around catcher (hitting and defense) wouldn't
hurt since Wieters is an injury risk.
Shortstop - That can hit lefties, preferably with good defense.
Outfield - A righty complement or two to Brantley, Herrera, de Aza, and
Shuck. I have Jennings and and Butler that I *could* slot in, but I prefer
non-crappy defense.
I'm open to dealing for one-year wonder cards, little/no future guys, soon
to be retiring players, and UC 17 players as long as the asking price is
reasonable.
That's a lot of holes to fill, but I do have a few bullets in the gun to
help me get there:
Draft Picks - all of my draft picks are available. Yes, all of them. That
includes both #1 picks - but you better come with a hell of a deal if you
want BAL #1 as there's still a chance it could be top tier. Even for GTY
#1, I'd expect a very good offer.
*Hitters*
TEX Profar - I value him as much as the BAL #1 pick - only 23 and hitting
.295/.351/.428 with position versatility at 3B/1B/2B/SS, and now getting
time in LF.
CHN Szczur - decent backup LF/CF option next year, should end up a playoff
eligible guy that hits righties very well, projected for ~ 240 IBL PA's in
2017
KC Colon - should make my playoff roster as a ph, but could help someone as
a backup 2B/3B/SS option next year, plus he has an excellent card this year
and ~ 130 PA's remaining
TB Jennings - decent card this year, playoff eligible as a backup type but
can start vR, not a great year in MLB but is still on the right side of 30
SEA Montero - hitting very well in AAA, needs 70 PA's for usage, and still
only 26 years old
TB Butler - playoff eligible DH type with Vg/Vg power, decent slash lines,
but has a "this year only" value
LAA Iannetta - mediocre hitting card, but good defense (Vg/2 PB/PK
ratings), and Vg/Vg power, similar card so far for next year, but with
fewer K's and better avg/obp numbers
*Pitchers*
ARI Bradley - A 23 year old that looks like he's starting to figure it out
in MLB. He's not going to be a #1 IBL guy next year, but he's certainly a
good #3/#4/#5 guy with great potential. No usage to get in IBL this year,
since he's out injured for the IBL regular season, so you can just stick
him on your minor league roster and watch him develop in MLB.
LAA Skaggs - UC 16, so no usage to get, just turned 25, and has been very
impressive in his first couple of starts back from TJ surgery - small
sample size, but 12.1 IP with 0 earned runs, a .81 WHIP, and 13 K's. It'd
be foolish to think the ERA and WHIP will stay where they are, but I
believe in the K's and he looks great so far.
MIA Urena - 24 year old RP/SP for Miami, has been inconsistent so far but
has nice potential. Might get another chance as a SP this year in MLB with
Rea's injury voiding that deal with the Padres. Needs about 12 starts in
IBL to reach his usage, should be pretty easy to get.
Relief Pitching - I have a bevy, a plethora, if you will, of good to
"OK'ish" relief pitchers that aren't so great this year but are doing well
in MLB and should have nice cards next year. Righties include MIL Jeffress,
PHI Gomez, and CLE Shaw. Lefties include TB Cedeno, LAN Howell, OAK Abad,
and DET Krol. Several of these guys would be on my playoff roster at this
point, but I'd like to make improvements through dealing some of these
"next year" guys for "this year" guys.
If you've made it this far, congratulations. My sister is a teacher, I'll
see if I can get her to send you a gold star. If you see something that
interests you, and you have a player or players that fit what I'm looking
for, shoot me an email or catch me on irc.
