[IBL] Ghosts Double Up Cougars 14-7 to Take a 2-0 Series Lead -- Games 3 and 4 at 8 pm ET Monday

Casper, WY-- The Casper Ghosts put up crooked numbers in the third and
fourth innings to grab a 13-3 lead and then held on the rest of the way to
defeat the Chicago Cougars 14-7 in Game 2 of the 2014 IBLCS. David Ortiz
drove in six runs while going 3 for 5 with a home run in the clean up spot
to lead the Ghosts. Mike Trout and Hunter Pence each also were 3 for 5.
After narrowly avoiding giving up a run in the top of the second, Ortiz led
off the bottom of the inning with a home run off of Cougar starter Michael
Wacha and Pence immediately followed with a triple, and eventually scored
for a 2-0 lead.
The Cougars bounced back in the top of the third by bunching a walk, a hit
batter, a double and a single to grab a 3-2 lead. But in the bottom of the
third, the first six Ghosts reached and scored, some off of Wacha and some
off of Luis Avilan as the Ghosts went back on top 8-3 for a lead they never
relinquished. In the next inning, four runners reached and were followed
by a Jason Castro triple and a Jon Jay sac fly to extend the Ghosts lead to
13-3.
Adam Wainwright continued his struggles for the Ghosts, giving up three
more runs in the top of the fifth before fatiguing and being lifted for
eventual winner Mike Minor. Minor gave up a single run in the sixth, which
the Ghosts immediately gt back, and then Minor, Addison Reed and Kevin
Siegrist held on the rest of the way for the 14-7 victory.
Games 3 and 4 will be Monday night beginning at 8 pm on IRC.
