Before I finalize my drop list, I figured I'd see if there's any
interest in some possible reclamation projects.
*Nate Schierholtz* CHN/WAS
He'll have a crappy offensive card next year, but his history suggests
it may be a fluke.
*Justin Smoak* SEA
It looks like he's pretty well settled into being a streaky hitter with
high K/modest power/limited BA, at a position that demands great defense
and/or power. Released by Seattle, picked up by Toronto for 2015.
Toronto has decided to decline the option on his contract and will take
their chances in arbitration from the looks of things. At 27/28, he
still has the possibility of being a late bloomer, especially given
Toronto's ability to draw out a hitter's talent (see: Jose Bautista and
Edwin Encarnacion, considered retreads before finding a home north of
the border.)
*Chris Young* (OF) NYN/NYA
Good glove, weak bat, a little speed. Still has value as a 4th outfielder.
*Blake Parker* CHN
RHRP. Useful as setup man for a lights-out closer, or to fill in a staff
on a team needing lots of arms. Middle-of-the-road card for next year.
*Jerome Williams* multiple teams, finished with Philly
RH, can start or relieve. Back-of-the-rotation/long relief. Could
survive decently in a park that allows few homers.
Basically floating a trial balloon. If there's anything of interest, let
me know.
