<div dir="ltr">Hi all,<div><br></div><div>My couple of pence worth. Whether I agree with a proposal or not, I do appreciate the thinking and effort in putting ideas forward! </div><div><br></div><div>2024-01) Leaning No, but this has brought up good discussion on issues with deadlines. Generally, and quite rightly, deadlines have been enforced with discretion. This has worked well because there is actually very little time to realistically play games. Generally, at least 50% of MIS are posted Friday (or later) and for those of us outside the US, time difference means MIS are not really available until Saturday. This give Sat, Sun and Mon to do games with the other 4 days, in effect, not available to plays games. My personal schedule is such that generally I can only do games on Sun or Tues. The ideal scenario would be to have a little "down time" as possible to give folks as much flexibility as possible to get games played. Some of the automation Sean and Rusty and others have done helps, but there is still manual effort. How much time and when is best for sorting waivers claims and transactions? If they were in by close of play Tuesday (for example) would they be sorted and published sometime Thursday? Is there a way to have automated "roster management"? throwing out ideas because currently, IMO, 3 days is not sufficient flexibility.</div><div><br></div><div>2024-02) Nope. I've been hit by tons of injuries, but it's on me decide if I gamble on having injury prone folks or not. Of course, there's the sneaky benefit not being mentioned but hoped in that those multiple injuries can help get usage ... which is probably more of an argument for the proposal, still, am voting No.</div><div><br></div><div>2024-03) Nope. Not as written. I get it is unrealistic to have a pitcher throw hundreds of pitches in the leave the bad pitcher in scenario. However, think it can be better accomplished by tweaking BF. Currently, a reliever has limitations in that have to be removed at end of inning in which they exceed maximum BF limit. Just have a max BF limit for SP as well, IMO and apply same rule.</div><div><br></div><div>2024-04) Abstain. Will probably vote no.</div><div><br></div><div>2024-05) No. If we wanted to reflect the modern game, then the only real rule is the 3 batter minimum, then you can replace the pitcher any time you want. I vaguely recall part of the rationale for using starts was to have a mild discouragement to swap between RH and LH pitchers early to get an advantage over vs LH or vs RH lineups. With how batter cards are done to be more balanced, I wonder if we scrap some of the 3.5 Extra starts for pitchers and go with MLB (outside of playoffs perhaps).</div><div><br></div><div>2024-06) Nope.</div><div><br></div><div>2024-07) Definitely Not. Those MLB players who happen to play both LF and RF for a team have it reflected already. </div><div><br></div><div>2024-08) Yes. Obviously fairly rare, but if easy to calculate, then yes is fine.</div><div><br></div><div>2024-09) Nope. 100% no. </div><div><br></div><div>2024-10) Nope.</div><div><br></div><div>Cheers all!</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div> </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Sun, Aug 25, 2024 at 2:45 AM Paul Schneider via Members <<a href="mailto:members@lists.ibl.org">members@lists.ibl.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr">My question about 2004-02 would be whether injuries do really even out? Based on the data Sean sent me, it appeared that the high injury guys were far and away carrying the league-wide injury burden in terms of percentage of injury time relative to expected injury time, and the lower to mid injury guys were not meeting their "fair share" of injuries relative to their actual injury numbers. To me, the issue isn't whether the high injury guys should be injured more often or for longer stretches (because of course they are and would continue to do so under the proposed rule), but whether they are more likely to go beyond their "fair share?"<div><br></div><div>In the data Sean sent me (2019), I looked at the players with between 80-120 injury days and more than 200 PA/BF in MLB These are all guys who had moderate to substantial roles on their MLB team despite their time lost to injury. Call them brittle contributors if you will. Of these players, only 6 of 18 (35%) even hit their 75% usage and only 2 of 18 were able to make 100% usage. Just my opinion, but these guys are already paying a steep and fair price by being limited...but shouldn't they at least have a chance to get to 100% of their actual usage? Of these 16 players that did not make 100% usage, 5 were hurt a second time, but with many, it was most likely a case of IBL teams knowing they just couldn't play them under the current rules, so they limited them to key moments, saved them for the playoffs, etc.</div><div><br></div><div>I did not include the 120+ guys, simply because one injury basically tanks their season, as frankly, it should. </div><div><br></div><div><div>Remember, injury prone players will still have the big injury numbers either way and will continue to be at risk, but I think the question is whether they should be as likely to hit that second big injury again? The rule, as proposed, does not take away the long injuries, but just changes their likelihood of happening again from 80% (as INJ 3) to 40% (as INJ 7) on the injury chart, and gives teams at least a fair option of trying to get them to that 100% usage on the season, as moderate as those numbers may be, which under the current system, is very, very difficult to reach</div></div><div><br></div><div>Just thinking out loud to clarify my vote...carry on and enjoy your weekend.</div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Sat, Aug 24, 2024 at 6:00 PM Joel Roberts via Members <<a href="mailto:members@lists.ibl.org" target="_blank">members@lists.ibl.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div><div style="font-family:"Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><div></div>

This helps address the 30 days IL players getting hit 3 times and

Against as proposed. I prefer the option Chris suggested on this as
well as the comments from Brett & Paul. I don't want my #2 starter
getting roughed up in the first inning and having to remove him after 15

that hard by injuries then you need to work the trade wire more, even if
trading players at reduced values. If there were a limit of 1 player
