What if we instead did a rule similar to MLB's 26th man rule? Just give teams a chance to carry an extra player for doubleheaders, but only DHs scheduled in advance (in this case, would be for the late season doubleheaders teams run into due to early season day 3 rainouts). That way, teams know they can have an extra pitcher available for the DH only entering the week and it doesn't require mid-week roster adjustments.

I agree the proposed rule is definitely more in line with real life, but I also don't know if it's feasible for MIS play.

NJR Mike

On Fri, Jul 22, 2016 at 9:21 AM, Sean Sweda <sweda@ibl.org> wrote:

> On Jul 22, 2016, at 7:43 AM, Larry Selleck <lms4th@gmail.com> wrote:

You can only do this when a double-header or extra inning game occurs, the number of opportunities will be very limited. Furthermore, even if you could do it every week the strategy is limited practically by the fact that any pitcher who is de-activated must remain on the inactive roster for 2 weeks. The rule specifically requires that the pitcher being activated must have been eligible for activation that week (i.e. inactive for 2 weeks).
Teams are required to have at least 4 SP on their active roster at the start the week so what you are describing here is not legal.
