Phrasing it as "always guard 3B line vs Rp/Lo hitters" could qualify as a default defense, IMO. As you saw from our recent series (SFP@SDQ), though, a periodic reminder wouldn't hurt.

Date: Fri, 1 Aug 2014 17:50:58 +0100
From: lms4th@gmail.com
To: members@lists.ibl.org
Subject: [IBL] Additional comments on mid-season ballot

Hello,

First of all thanks to Chris for clarifying the lf/rf. I do think it won't just be for emergencies and that there will be some teams that will frequently shift their OF defence around in I6+ ... but not sure if people think that makes a material difference.

In regards to IRC logging, I had mis-interpreted what the ballot item said in that any non-default defence (for example, guarding the line) would have to be announced before each and every roll. The wording states that it is merely before rolling, so I interpret that to mean some defences can be stated at the beginning of the game an applied throughout (e.g. always guard 3B line vs Rp/Lo hitters).
