SFP wasted no time in their home opener, proving they're ready to pick up from last season. MOR whipped the Dogs 8-2 in Santa Fe. Felix pitched a good game, giving up 3 runs (only 1 earned) and whiffing 8 in 7 innings. The opponent's first run scored on a botched play by Sal Perez. With runners at the corners, Perez tried to pick Dexter Fowler off 1st, but threw the ball into RF. Rob Brantly practically walked home from third. With two outs, MOR had Fowler still on second, and Rickie Weeks on first. Juan Francisco proceeded to line a shot in the right-center gap. The ball skipped past a diving Avisail Garcia, giving MOR all the runs they'd really need. In the 8th, a two-out walk and Asche error allowed Fowler to drive in a run with a single grounded up the middle. Two more came in on a line double by Lombardozzi. It was the third ball that managed to get past Garcia. In the 9th, Everth Cabrera walked, then took second on a poor pickoff throw by Neshek. Two outs later, Neshek served up the fattest pitch you can imagine. Matt Adams put the gift deep into the upper deck, just inside the foul pole.

SFP scored on a Prado HR leading off the 4th, and an Ackley triple that scored Perez, who had drawn a rare walk.

So, SFP makes 3 errors, the bullpen gives up 5 runs in 2 innings, and the offense had trouble stringing hits together. In short, another typical SFP game.

1 down, 161 to go.
